An ongoing consulting and mentoring programme for KATCO’s crisis centre — continuously strengthening emergency-management readiness, with a minimum of six crisis-situation scenarios run every year.
The challenge
KATCO needed to assess and continuously improve how its emergency-management system copes with unplanned incidents — the coherence of emergency response, preparedness, responsibilities and the procedures to follow during production emergencies.
What we did
- Assessed the emergency-management system and response coherence
- Run a minimum of six crisis-situation scenarios every year via tabletop (“sandbox”) exercises
- Set roles and responsibilities for the emergency-response team
- Built notification, evacuation, rescue and communication flow charts
- Developed a personnel training plan to ensure on-site competence
Results
- A continuous, year-round emergency-preparedness programme
- Practised, well-understood emergency procedures across personnel
- Clear emergency-response roles, actions and communication flow
